ABOUT ME

I have an international professional experience.
I worked in multidisciplinary teams and adverse sociocultural contexts. I gather experiences that range from copywriting and generating instant ideas amidst the urban culture of advertising to the development of educational games with remote populations in Mozambique, where the culture obeys different codes from mine. Alongside this path, the universe of books and publishers has accompanied my professional
life for years.

Illustration is the guiding thread of these different experiences. Sometimes it appears to illuminate an author's text, sometimes to awaken a collective issue, sometimes to identify an entity or to represent ideas when the use of writing is not appropriate or possible. Nevertheless, "words" are always implicit – they play with the illustrations.

Social projects have a greater preponderance in my professional path. I have worked with non-governmental organizations (ngo), United Nations agencies and local government liders. In Mozambique,
I participated in programs focused on sexual and reproductive health. In Brazil, in programs focused on environmental education and I also worked on projects that aimed to promote a new look at the
Afro-Brazilian culture. In the context of all these projects, it was necessary to be with people and understand myths, taboos, forms of expression, understand social norms and standards.
It was – and it is – very important to leave
the aridity of the studio.

These experiences allowed me implement
non-formal educational activities that, through the experimentation of visual languages and the use of pedagogical ludo- games, aim to provoke reflections on sociocultural issues and behavioral changes.

Testing communication materials is also part of my job and is essential to ensure the understanding of the contents.

The Master in Heritage Sciences supports a more conscious planning of all these activities, always considering the learning processes, the construction of knowledge and the sociocultural legacies that shape current cultural practices.

In this portfolio, I introduce myself as an artist, but it is a rare fact because I left the Faculty of Fine Arts and graduated in Industrial Design. The illustrations that I present here exude the ideals of the different projects in which I've participated, but also show a little of my way of perceiving these different worlds.
